Spyridon Tzounakas ha conseguito la laurea (1994) e il dottorato (2000) presso l’Università di Atene, godendo di una borsa di studio dello stato. Attualmente è professore associato di letteratura latina all’Università di Cipro e vicepreside della Facoltà di Lettere, presso la quale ha insegnato latino dal settembre del 2002. Le sue pubblicazioni si concentrano sulla satira (Persio), l’epica (Lucano e Valerio Flacco), l’elegia (Tibullo), le orazioni di Cicerone e l’epistolografia (Plinio il Giovane). Attualmente è Principal Investigator del programma di ricerca “The Reception of Ancient Cyprus in the Culture of the Western World” sovvenzionato dal Research & Innovation Foundation of Cyprus.

Spyridon Tzounakas completed his undergraduate (1994) and postgraduate (2000) studies at the University of Athens supported by a State scholarship. He is now Associate Professor of Latin Literature at the University of Cyprus and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Letters, where he has been teaching Latin since September 2002. His publications focus on Roman Satire (especially Persius), Roman Epic (especially Lucan and Valerius Flaccus), Roman Elegy (especially Tibullus), Cicero’s Orations, Roman Epistolography (especially Pliny the Younger). He is the Principal Investigator of the research programme “The Reception of Ancient Cyprus in the Culture of the Western World”, funded by the Research & Innovation Foundation of Cyprus.
